TAILLIGHTS UPGRADE

Christian Witt has crafted a highly detailed replacement part for the K2000 build, focusing on the tail light housings. These housings are pre-painted in matte black with chrome-painted chambers to enhance light reflection. Installation is simple, requiring no tools due to the use of 3M tape and magnets. The taillight lens cover features a pre-applied Firebird emblem and includes intricate details visible through a clear lens, achieved with a water slide decal. The lens is tinted transparent black and snaps easily into the housing. Brake and fog light tape are used to enhance color authenticity when illuminated.
The product addresses a key discrepancy in the Fanhome model of the 1982 Pontiac Firebird, which inaccurately features only three light chambers instead of the authentic four found in the 1982-1984 Firebird. The provided housing is also too small, affecting the car’s iconic appearance. This upgrade allows for a complete replacement of the taillight housing, with an option to add a pre-wired LED for the fourth light chamber, available separately on various platforms. Alternatively, users can leave the fourth light slot blank. While compatible with Fanhome‘s blackout lens, a new lens without mounting holes is recommended for a smoother finish.

Christian Witt's meticulous attention to detail is truly exceptional. Once again, he has produced one of the most precise replacement parts for your K2000 build. The tail light housings come pre-painted in matte black, with chrome-painted chambers designed to enhance light reflection. Installation is a breeze, requiring no tools, thanks to 3M tape on each side and two magnets in the center, ensuring a snug fit in its designated place. The taillight lens cover is equipped with the Firebird emblem pre-applied. Intricate details visible through the clear lens are achieved using a water slide decal, and the lens itself is subtly tinted transparent black. The installation is straightforward, as it effortlessly snaps into the housing. To enhance the authenticity of the colors when illuminated, brake and fog light tape is employed.

Fanhome has undoubtedly crafted the most visually appealing and accurate 1982 Pontiac Firebird model available in the market. However, a notable issue arises as KITT was a Trans Am, featuring distinct trim options, particularly in the taillights. Unlike the Fanhome model, which offers only 3 light chambers, the 1982-1984 Firebird taillights had 4 chambers, a crucial detail for authenticity. Moreover, the housing provided by Fanhome is too small, resulting in the loss of an iconic aspect of the car's appearance. This upgrade addresses the discrepancy by enabling the complete replacement of the taillight housing. You have the option to integrate a pre-wired LED into an existing brake light on each side to activate the 4th light, available for separate purchase from platforms such as Etsy, Temu, eBay, AliExpress, etc. Alternatively, you can choose to leave the 4th light slot blank. The decision is entirely yours.

While this tail light upgrade is compatible with the blackout lens supplied by Fanhome, it is recommended to use a new blackout lens without mounting holes and screws for a smoother, more polished finish. You can either craft your own from 1mm anthracite acrylic and tint it with common window tint or await the release of laser-cut blackouts, which will be available for separate purchase in August 2024 at a cost of $10-$15.
