Michael: Maybe I can get something from the girl.
KITT: I wouldn't touch that line with a ten foot drive shaft.
New Part Announcement: Season 3 & 4 - Gas & Brake Pedal
I had written a blog post for October, but unfortunately, it was lost during a server update. So, here we go again! Our new product for October is a very limited edition LED pre-wired lighted gas pedal inspired by Seasons 3 & 4. Only 25 units will be made, and once they're gone, that's it! Even if you're not building a Season 3 & 4 car, this pedal makes an amazing upgrade to enhance the look of your build. After these 25 units sell out, the product will revert to a non-lighted version, which can still be modified to light up if you choose. This release marks the beginning of my Season 3 & 4 product line, with much more to come!
One More Taillight Blackout Update
Our taillight blackouts are back in stock! Inventory is finally holding steady, but don’t wait too long—like the lighted gas pedal, this is also a limited edition item. Only 150 units will be produced before this product is discontinued from our store. Sourcing materials for this product is both challenging and expensive, which is why restocking takes time. Each batch of plexiglass is custom-made and sent to our Laser Cutter/CNC partner in Oregon. From there, it travels three-quarters of the way across the country to me in Ohio, where I package it and include the necessary 3M strips for application to your taillight housing.
Taking a Two-Week Break from Making Parts Was a Bust
I had planned to take a two-week break to work on my car and film installation tutorials for our parts. However, as usual, things didn’t go as planned—I was missing some materials needed to proceed. Those materials are on their way from Amazon now, and I’ll continue the build later in December. Despite my intentions to take a break, I ended up creating new products anyway! I worked on the Season 3 & 4 pedal sets and lower consoles while waiting.I want to thank all of you for your continued support in keeping this little experiment alive. As many of you know, I’m just one guy working alone in a small 900-square-foot shop. My timing isn’t always perfect; sometimes real life gets in the way. On top of that, I’m caring for a family member with cancer, which adds to the challenges. I also admit that I’m not great at social media or writing blog posts—I’m much better at scrolling than typing! But I’m working on improving communication and will try to keep everyone updated more consistently.
What’s Coming Next?
For December, you can expect the release of 1982 Pontiac Firebird seat belt guides and door chrome L trim interior pieces during the second week of the month. These will come as a package set with easy 3M installation. For those who don’t want seat belts at all, these guides are an easy solution to plug the holes in your seats while maintaining screen accuracy—they were featured in the pilot and some early Season 1 episodes. This beats trying to fill the holes with clay and matching the texture and paint. These upgrades are made possible thanks to Christian Witt, with some modifications by me to improve the base of the seat belt guides. Toward the end of December, I’ll also have a massive batch of stone guards available! Thanks to a customer suggestion, I’ve started using automotive paint and clear coat to resolve previous issues with orange peel.Next on my list are:
- The Season 3 & 4 center console
- Completing the Season 3 & 4 dash
Additionally, I plan to upgrade the website by finishing the FAQ and Help sections and redesigning account pages if time permits. Fixing issues with translated versions of the site is also a top priority.
About the Mobile App Status
The mobile app is nearly complete! While it may seem like an odd time for such an investment with builds winding down, this Knight Rider project has always been an experiment to see if I could mass-produce quality parts independently. My goal is to eventually branch out into other builds under kennethtoysltd.com while continuing Knight Rider parts as one segment of many. The app still needs some polishing before hitting version 1.0, but I’m happy with its progress so far. Features include:
Apple Pay and Google Wallet payment options
Notifications for order updates, new product releases, etc., which are optional
Currently, we need 20 Android users to participate in beta testing via Google Play Store invites. If you’re interested, please use our "Contact Us" page and send me your Gmail address for an invitation.
Winding Down on Making Parts
For many of us, the Knight 2000 build is nearing completion. Personally, I have just two months left before receiving my display case. Many builders are also wrapping up their projects and waiting for parts availability. As such, sales have slowed down significantly and may stop altogether until builds resume in one or two years. While I’ll strive to keep parts available when possible, my focus after completing Season 3 & 4 items will shift toward revisiting older projects—like redoing the 1/8 Semi Trailer display case from scratch using everything I’ve learned about Fusion 360. I plan to order a specialized printer in February specifically for this project. That’s all for this month! December promises to be incredibly busy. If I don’t get another chance to post before then—Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Here’s to an exciting 2025 ahead!
